is it wise to spend €290 bucks on a module i might not use that often because i don't use my eurorack that often?

no.

but whatever, it's been a while since i last bought something fun for myself (actually that's a lie i bought that DSi but hey) and i'm frugal enough that my bank account can take this

i think one reason why i haven't used my Eurorack system on my songs that much in recent years is because i designed it primarily as a live performance box; there's two subtractive synth voices in there, drums, and some effects modules to process them through. the sequencing on it is done with Pamela's New Workout, which in this case means that i mostly just use the S&H mode on it, running that through a quantizer, and then sending that into the synth voices. really good for creating short, generative sequences on the fly, not very good at doing anything more focused than that. it's not the kinda thing i've ever really needed on my tracks.

i do still use subtractive synthesis in my music, but i want to use it to play synth leads and my modular synth just isn't designed around that. i tend to just use my Korg Monologue for that since it has an actual keyboard and it's super easy to initialize it and program whatever i need.

what if i could use my modular synth for sound design purposes instead? i've been using a lot of physical modeling stuff on my tracks lately and the idea of combining that with Eurorack does sound really neat.

so. um. i guess i just impulse bought a Plonk. i'm sure that pairing it with the generative/random stuff i have in my rack could give me some sounds that i haven't been able to create before. ultimately i could do all of it with Corpus or Collision in Ableton. but it wouldn't be as fun or immediate. so whatever i guess
